Prana Resorts & Spa rebrands and announces expansion plans in Asia

A key design feature of Prana Nandana is its distinct funneled roof, resembling a Thai fishing basket. Integrating local culture into the building’s design is also a key characteristic of Prana properties.

KOH SAMUI, 4 July, 2012: Prana Resorts & Spa today announced their rebranding to Prana Hotels & Resorts, a move that signifies the company’s plan to streamline its portfolio and expand in Asia.

“Prana’s rebranding underlines our plans to create a unified corporate identity unique to the brand. At the same time, we are focused on expanding our footprint in Asia through acquiring or building boutique-sized properties in key destinations such as Bali, Goa and Kerala.

“This new identity spearheads our drive to build a strong resort brand throughout the region – a brand that will continue to be synonymous with the personalised service and welcoming hospitality that Prana has come to be associated with,“ says Mr Mirko Francioni, General Manager, Wellness Division, Q Lifestyle.

Key characteristics of Prana properties include integrating local culture into the building’s design and architecture, and promoting a concept of “wellness from within”.

Promoting local craftsmanship, the roof of the Prana Nandana is woven using a traditional Thai technique.

“We think it’s important to showcase local craftsmanship so we use indigenous materials as much as possible. For example, the latest addition to Prana’s hospitality portfolio, the Prana Resort Nandana in Koh Samui features an innovative funnelled roof, shaped like a Thai fishing basket, woven using a traditional Thai technique,” said Mr Francioni.

This authentic Thai décor extends to the interior design of the hotel, whose rooms feature Thai handicrafts and motifs. Nandana, which means ‘paradise’ in Sanskrit, is representative of the tranquillity and rustic charm that guests will experience when the resort opens later this year.

The sprawling, low-rise resort of 60 rooms will also feature a dedicated spa facility with five treatment rooms and an al fresco massage sala (an open pavilion).

Prana Resort Nandana is being built across the road from the existing Prana Beach Villas, formerly known as Prana Resorts & Spa.

Prana’s website will soon be revamped to include information on all resorts under its management, including both its Koh Samui resorts. Meanwhile, for information on Prana Beach Villas, please visit
